Adopt or Rescue a Pet

Thank God for animals--beloved creations of a loving Creator.

"So out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name."  Genesis 2:19

The United Christian Church of Marietta loves pets, and saving animals is a passion of many of our members.  Can you open your home to a shelter cat or dog?

German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York was created to provide a lifeline to German Shepherd Dogs with stable temperaments facing euthanasia in shelters throughout the Central New York region.  Dogs are medically completed prior to placement with families whose adoption applications have been rigorously evaluated.

"Rescue of the Week" at German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York-Meet Ollana!!

Ollana has a very sad story. She was owned and raised by a breeder, a man who came from Germany and spoke no English. He lost his beloved wife and then he spiraled into depression and 4 years later he also passed away. Ollana is purebred German Shepherd dog from excellent German Bloodlines. She was a little thin but a typical size (females 55-65 lbs) for her German type. Due to the breeder's illness she was never been bred and lived in a kennel for many years. Since her life was intended to be a breeding bitch, she has never known the joys of having her own home and her own loving family. She is spayed now and will never have puppies.

Ollana is truly a great dog who just got a terrible start in life. She is doing well in foster care and is learning all about the things she was not able to experience before. She knows some basic obedience commands such as sit and down. We are still perfecting the coming when called. This is due to her lack of socialization.

The world is such a great big adventure for her. Ollana is learning all about love, trust, companionship and basic obedience. It is truly amazing to watch her progress.

Ollana truly loves belly rubs and craves attention! She is fine with my two teenage sons (ages 13 and 15). Ollana is housetrained and crate trained. She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and is spayed. She is NOT socialized with other dogs, so at this time she would need a home without other dogs. With the proper socialization and training this could change

If you are interested in Ollana, please contact Tami Evans.
